Venus 1500 error "Dialup Connection Not Supported" can't communicate to a 56K phone Modem Display

Potential Symptoms

  • Updated to Venus 1500 version 4.20 or greater and no longer can communicate to a display using a 56K/ Dial-up Modem.
  • Installed the latest V4 software from the website, instead of the modem compatible version.
  • Cannot add a display using Dial-up Modem in Venus 1500 v4.20+.
  • When selecting a display receive the following message:
    • This version of Venus 1500 does not support dialup connections.
    • ModemWarningnotsupported.jpg

Cause

  • 56K phone Modem support is no longer available in Venus 1500 v4.20 or greater. (latest version 4.22.3)

Resolution

Install a compatible version of software for your display and communication features.

  • OPTION 1: If you have updated to V4.20+ and need to rollback to a previous version for modem support, reference the following steps: 
    1. Uninstall Venus 1500 V4.20.
    2. Uninstall Fusion and Data Server.
    3. Rename the Daktronics folder in the following locations (Normally, just add a .old to the end of the file name).
      • WINDOWS VISTA, WINDOWS 7, WINDOWS 8 and WINDOWS 10
        • Navigate to C:\ProgramData\DAKTRONICS
      • WINDOWS XP
        • C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Daktronics
    4. Install 4.19.2:  https://dakfiles.daktronics.com/downloads/venus1500/v4/Legacy/Modem/Full/setup.exe

OPTION 2: If you have a new installation of the latest version but meant to install 4.19.2, please call Daktronics tech support for assistance. (More steps of software removal for SQL Server 2014 may be needed.)
