How do I connect to a display using DHCP without a DHCP router?

Environment

  • Galaxy
  • AF-3500, AF-3550

Resolution

  1. Ethernet connection should go directly from the LAN port of the computer to the display.
  2. Local Area computer connection should be set to obtain automatically or a static IP can be setup: IP - 169.254.XXX.XXX, Subnet Mask - 255.255.0.0, & Gateway 0.0.0.0.
  3. Cycle power to the display.  The display will be assigned a random 169.254.xxx.xxx IP which can be seen upon the start up sequence of the sign.  This can be used to connect to the sign.  If this did not appear or we do not have the opportunity to catch the start up sequence go to step 4.
  4. Using M2Config Auto Discovery to find the AF-3500/3550 display.
    1. Click on the blue D in the upper left hand corner.
    2. Press the Discover Button.
    3. Once a display is found you can see the assigned IP and press the connect button to connect and make changes to the display controller.
    4. Upload changes.

Note: Venus 1500 v4 can also use the Discovery tool built in it to find the display.
