Galaxy Message Center, Controller being installed has garbled content displaying

Potential Symptoms

  • Controller being installed has garbled content displaying.
    • Example: Vertical row of LEDs stay on Primary/Mirror.

Environment

  • Galaxy
  • AF-3150, AF-3160, AF-3165, AF-3180, AF-3190, AF-3197, AF-3200, AF-3220, AF-3400
  • Electronic Message Center (EMC) or Board (EMB), Marquee, Readerboard, Display
  • M2 Controller based products
    • Controller has just been installed into display.

Cause

  • Controller ribbon cable outputs are in wrong locations. J13 and J14.

Resolution

  • Plug the Ribbon cables into the correct locations on the controller board.
    • The top line of modules should connect to Line 1 on the controller.
    • The 2nd line of modules should connect to Line 2 on the controller.
    • Continue this process for as many lines on the display as needed.  See below for a detailed picture of the controller jack layout.

Notes: The Line 1 jack will always be labeled with a LINE1 & J11.
