Environment

  • Venus 1500 (4.9) or Lower

Cause

The Venus1500.log file get beyond 51MB in file size. This is caused by leaving the Venus 1500 v4 software open and it retrieves display status every 30 seconds, and puts a imprint into the log file for each time it obtains status. When the log file gets beyond 51MB, the controller cannot handle that large of a file and crashes the Venus 1500 v4 Software.

Resolution

Update to latest software version 4.10 or greater.

Work Around

If unable to perform update, you can manually delete the log file.

  1. Go to Windows Start Menu, click My Computer or Computer.
  2. Go to the following location:
    • Windows XP Location: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Daktronics\Venus 1500 V4
    • Windows Vista\7 Location: C:\Program Data\Daktronics\Venus 1500 V4
  3. and delete Venus1500.log text document that is 51,000 KBs.
