Presentations are not showing or are missing from the Content Tab

Potential Symptoms

  • Content tab is blank, empty, void, or free of any creative content.
  • Presentations or messages aren't showing or are missing from the Content Tab.
  • Presentations show in the schedule tab when adding to playlist or when trying to open or save a presentation in Content Studio.
  • Content is not present in the Content tab.
  • Thumbnails have disappeared from the Content Tab in Venus 1500 V4, but can still be found in Content Studio.

Cause

  • When you have 128 presentations in one folder in the Content Tab, with security disabled, there is a bug in the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 that has a mathematical issue. This happens when the count is divisible by 64 with an even number.  For example, if you have 128, 256, 384 etc. presentations in one folder, then you are unable to see the presentations in the folder from the Content Tab.

Resolution

  1. Update to the most recent versions of .NET and Venus 1500.
  2. Verify all Windows updates are up to date.
    • If unable to update due to compatibility issues with Venus 1500 or OS follow the temporary operation instructions.

For Temporary Operation

  • Option 1 (Preferred option): Create a new message.
    • Create a new message in Content Studio and save it in the same folder that the presentations are not showing in.
    • Close Venus 1500 V4 software and re-launch the Venus 1500 V4 software.
    • Go to Content Tab and select the folder that was previously missing presentations. Messages should appear again as normal.
    • Option 2: Enable the Venus 1500 V4 User Security.

                  When using this option you will be prompted to log in each time you launch Venus 1500 V4.

      Notes: 

      • Launch Venus 1500 V4 software.
      • Click the Orange V Application Menu.
      • Click Venus 1500 Options.
      • Click Security.
      • Check Enable User Security.
            • Default User-name: administrator
            • Default Password: password
      1. Update Venus 1500 by going to https://www.daktronics.com/en-us/support/controllers/venus-1500, clicking the Download button, and choosing Update.
