Display will not show graphics/video, scrolling text is garbled; Wrong color depth configured

Potential Symptoms

  • Display only shows solid text and no graphics or images.
  • Videos or colors are distorted or discolored.
  • Video only showing 2 colors when importing.
  • Messages are distorted/discolored and do not fit the display properly even though they preview fine in the software.
  • Display is garbled or not showing content, but will play test patterns fine.
  • Scrolling text and images are not playing on the display or appear garbled.
  • Messages with red or full color filled backgrounds appear correct in Venus 1500 v4 but display as all white.
  • May receive "No Response" alert in Venus but can connect with M2config.

Cause

  • Display's color depth is configured incorrectly in the software.

Resolution

NOTE: Changing the color depth will create a new display database, and you will need to recreate your messages if save as does not work.

  1. Launch Venus 1500 v4 and correct the color depth for the display.
    1. Click the Orange V Application menu Button.
    2. Choose Configure -> Displays.
    3. Double-click the Display Icon or select the Display and click Edit Display.
    4. Check and correct the Color depth following:  How to configure the standard settings for Commercial Galaxy Displays in M2Config, DD2241913.
    5. Click Finish.
    6. A prompt may appear asking Would you like to delete all files and sub-folders.
    7. Select Yes - All content, messages, and presentations created for the original sign size will be permanently deleted as they were created in the incorrect color depth.
  2. Connect using M2config, clear the display memory, and defragment the controller.
  3. Recreate content in Venus 1500 V4 Content Studio and publish to display.
