LiveWrx: How do I display LiveWrx on my video board?
Topic
LiveWrx is run through a web-based platform that sends active activations to a feed link that can be displayed to your video board via Display Studio Web Page Playback or HDMI Connection.
This article explains how to get LiveWrx scripted to a single Display Studio button that triggers your activations to be displayed on your video board.
Environment
- Product: LiveWrx, Display Studio
- Components: Activations, Web Page Playback, Capture Card
- Control System: LiveWrx Dashboard, Display Studio
Steps
LiveWrx is scripted to your video display using Display Studio through two methods. You can either use web page playback or stream LiveWrx through another device directly connected to your Show Control rack with a capture card. Both of these processes are outlined below.
🔽Use the arrows to expand and collapse each section.
Connect through Web Page Playback
Log in to LiveWrx on your Show Control Computer
- Navigate to Video Display Channels via the Portal Menu
- Click the Duplicate icon under Copy Video Display URL next to your desired display
Hit The Windows Key or Open the Windows Menu
- Search "Notepad" and open the app
- Add a new notepad tab
- Paste the LiveWrx Video Display URL (web address) into the notepad file and type nothing else.
- Save file using .URI file extension into the content folder of the player you wish to play the web page from.
- Meaning, you will physically need to add "uri" at the end of the file name: [insert custom text].uri
- Be sure to choose Save type as (dropdown): All Files
- ⚠️ It's important you select ANSI in the Encoding option or this will be unsuccessful
Open Display Studio
- Right click in a scripting container; select Create New Button
- Choose DMP-8000 Player Control
- Select a 16:9 zone to play LiveWrx webpage (for best results, ensure your QR code is as large as possible by selecting a zone that allows your LiveWrx content to be full screen or, if your display is widescreen - on the largest 16:9 zone)
- Choose Play
- Select the LiveWrx .URI file you created
- Click the newly created button while a LiveWrx Engagement is scheduled and an Activation is Live
- This will display your LiveWrx content
- You can return to LiveWrx to operate your Activation

Connect through a Capture Card
DMP-8000's that detect a video capture card will have .DPF files automatically generated. They are located here: C:\ProgramData\Daktronics\VNet4\Content\system\devices.
If your device has multiple inputs, you'll see multiple files created with a number that correlates to the jacks on the capture card. You can copy, move, and rename the appropriate file to make it easy to locate and use.
Be sure you have a separate computer you can stream LiveWrx on, and that the device is plugged into the corresponding video input jack and is outputting video correctly. If you have issues, you may want to verify your video output using a video monitor.
The .DPF files are played just like playing any other piece of content.
Log In to LiveWrx on a separate device
- Start the desired Activation
- Use the drop-down next to Video Display to show the LiveWrx video display view on a new tab or window
- Ensure Full Screen is enabled to remove the browser overlay
Open Display Studio on your Show Control computer
Potential Copy and Paste Route
- Locate a button called "Full Screen Video" or "Scaled Video"
- Right Click into Properties
- Ensure step 4 shows "Capture.DPF" in the file name
- This button can be used or copied and labeled "LiveWrx Activation"
From Scratch
- Right click in a scripting container; select Create New Button
- Choose DMP-8000 Player Control
- Select a 16:9 zone to play LiveWrx HDMI feed (for best results, ensure your QR code is as large as possible by selecting a zone that allows your LiveWrx content to be full screen or, if your display is widescreen - on the largest 16:9 zone)
- Choose Play
- Browse to your .DPF file
- The default location is C:\ProgramData\Daktronics\VNet4\Content\
- Open the system folder.
- Open devices folder
- Select your .DPF
