Show Control: How to use Fanfare in AllSport Pro to automate player headshots after a high ticket play?
Topic
This article describes an example of how to automate headshots using AllSport Pro’s Display Studio Hot Buttons, Roster, and Fanfare linked to specific scoring buttons. You can choose to include or remove ideas from the article of your choosing
For example – You have your roster setup in Allsport pro and a set of headshot videos or images for each player on the roster. If you want to automate headshots for a high ticket item like Football Touchdown or Basketball 3 pointer we can link a Media RTD button to a Fanfare scoring button.
Environment
- Product: Content Studio; Allsport Pro;
- Component: Data elements, MediaRTD
- Control System: Show Control Systems
Steps
Uploading Headshots to use as Media RTD
Considerations: Each headshot file should be created to the same resolution for consistency across the roster. This can be a video or image format (preferred: .Png or .Mp4)
- Open the Show Control Laptop's file explorer
- Locate DMP content folder - D8Video-P or for scorer's tables D8Table-P
- Open the MediaRTD folder
- Add a folder for "Headshots"
- If planning to do this for multiple sports - Add sub folders for each sport under "Headshots"
- Upload the headshots with the file name matching the player number
- For example - Player #30 John Doe's filename would be 30.png or 30.mp4
This is how MediaRTD can link player numbers to your roster that is used in AllSport Pro - Data comes in, content comes out!
Set up MediaRTD for headshots in Content Studio
- Open Content Studio using the pencil icon in the top right of Display Studio
- Create a new file from the menu in the top left of Content Studio
- Drop down player zones using the arrow icon on the left of the player name
- Choose a zone you will use for the headshot content
- This article will use the example for a Fullscreen takeover but keep in mind using other scaled zones may require scripting back to other content within your Display Studio button (steps below)
- Suggestion - Create 2 layouts in this file.
- Layout 1 - Could include the animation for the scoring button. "3 Points" for "+3" etc.
- Layout 2 - Will follow the remaining steps, generally. You can create any headshot/stat file you would like. Below is an example of what's possible using MediaRTD for the headshot and RTD for stats.
*NOTE - If layout 1 is excluded - Your headshot file will not show on the display until the score operator chooses a roster number. Having layout 1 gives the operator time to associate the point to a roster number and a seamless transition from animation to player headshot.
- On the left-side Dynamic Data Library
- Find the Sport you are creating for and Drop down the sport data for In-Game Progress 1
- Find: Player-Foul-points (Player) and drag it to the canvas
- Under Field Properties tab - check the box for "Is MediaRTD"
- Select any headshot video or image uploaded in the "Uploading Headshots to use as Media RTD" section above.
- Create the "Link" in Multiple Fields pop-up - This step is important to make sure the system knows what folder to pull from. If you images are not pulling up based off AllSport Data, Try these steps again.
- Click on the headshot image
- open the field properties tab
- click on "Multiple Fields", then "add text"
- Type the MediaRTD folder you created in the "Uploading Headshots to use as Media RTD" section above : "Headshots/" OR if using sub folders "Headshots/<sport name>/"
- Make sure to drag the text field above the field section
- Drag the bounding box of your MediaRTD to the desired area on the canvas
- This is where creativity can change how you do this. The listed steps are the principal of MediaRTD. Depending on your MediaRTD format suggestions may change.
- For transparent images like the example above - you can create a whole stats page with the included RTDs.
- For non-transparent videos or images - you can make the MediaRTD bounding box the entire canvas so that your mp4 or PNG of the player takes the full screen or zone it's scripted to.
- This is where creativity can change how you do this. The listed steps are the principal of MediaRTD. Depending on your MediaRTD format suggestions may change.
- Save the .VMPF file with a recognizable name like - "Automated Headshots"
- This is one and done - since the folder has all of the player numbers from the "Uploading Headshots to use as Media RTD" section above, you will be able to pull content based off the roster number chosen when scoring in the AllSport Pro UI
Creating the Button and linking to AllSport Pro scoring buttons (Fanfare)
- In Display Studio - Create a new button with a play script - run one time - with the VMPF created form the section above.
- Only one button for automated headshots is needed - the RTD and MediaRTD fields chosen will automate the most recent player that scored
- Setup Display Studio Buttons in AllSport Pro
- It's best to make a specific page in Display Studio for these buttons before configuring to the AllSport Pro UI - This way you only see what you want
- Follow this articles steps: All Sport Pro: How to enable Display Studio Buttons to your All Sport Pro Game Tabs and enable FanFare?
The Result
- The home team scores a high ticket item like 3 points - The AllSport Pro operator presses "+3"
- If using layout 1 from the previous example - The 3 point animation plays to the Fullscreen takeover zone
- AllSport Pro lists the roster numbers that are in the game - Operator chooses the roster number that scored
- When layout 1 is finished - the headshot will proceed from Layout 2
- This was set to run one time on Fullscreen Takeover - content will fall back to your "In-Game Look" underneath the takeover zone when the duration is complete
