FrameWrx: How to Find the Dimensions of Your Display

Before creating or exporting content in FrameWrx, it is important to know the exact pixel dimensions or aspect ratio of the display where the content will be shown. Using incorrect dimensions can result in scaling issues, cropping, or black bars when content is displayed.

The process for finding display dimensions depends on the type of display and control system being used. Confirming the correct pixel dimensions ensures content created or exported from FrameWrx appears as expected.

Venus Control Suite (VCS) Displays 

For displays controlled by Venus Control Suite (VCS), display dimensions are found directly within the VCS interface.

Cloud-Hosted: Find Display or Zone Dimensions in VCS 

  1. Log into Venus Control Suite.  See: Venus Accounts: How do I log in to Venus Control Suite?
  2. Navigate to the Displays App.

  1. Click on an existing display.
  2. In the Configuration tab locate the pixel dimensions (width x height) and aspect ratio.

  1. If the display uses zones:
    1. In the Layout Section of the Configuration Tab, select the layout
    2. The zone properties for the selected layout are displayed on the right-hand side, including pixel dimensions for the specific zone.

Locally Hosted: Find Display or Zone Dimensions in VCS
  1. Log into Venus Control Suite using the desktop icon.
  2. Click on the Main Menu icon in the upper-left corner (three lines).
  3. Click on Displays.
  4. Your display size will be listed in the middle column. 
    1. Display size represents pixels wide x pixels high, i.e. 250 pixels wide x 140 pixels high.

Daktronics Video Boards

Daktronics video boards have fixed pixel dimensions defined during system installation.

Determine Video Board Dimensions

Video board dimensions can usually be found in:

    • Project documentation or submittals
    • Installation drawings or specification sheets
    • Daktronics controller configuration
    • Information provided during system installation or training
    • Daktronics Technical Support

Common Examples include:

    • 1280 x 720
    • 1920 x 1080
    • 3840 x 2160
    • Custom resolutions based on board size and pixel pitch

Other Display Types

LCD Displays

LCD Displays commonly use standard resolutions defined by the manufacturer.

Common LCD resolutions include:

      • 1920 x 1080 (Full HD)
      • 3840 x 2160 (4K)

LCD display dimensions can be found in:

      • Display or monitor settings menus
      • Operating system display settings
      • Manufacturer documentation

Additional display types include:

    • Lobby or concourse displays
    • Ribbon or auxiliary displays
    • Street Furniture
    • Informational or secondary displays

Unable to Determine

If you are unable to determine your display’s dimensions:

  • Do not assume or guess the aspect ratio or dimensions
  • Confirm pixel dimensions using system documentation or support resources
  • Contact FrameWrx@daktronics.com for assistance.
    • Having the display name, location, or order number available can help expedite support.
