Venus Control Suite Media Library: How to Use the In-Use Indicator

Available in all Venus Control Suite packages.

Use the In-Use Indicator to quickly identify whether a media file or Web Presentation is being used in any Playlist or Presentation. This feature helps prevent accidental deletion and makes it easier to manage, update, or replace media assets.

  • Product Family: Venus Basic, Select, Professional, Enterprise, Live

Steps

Access Media Library
  1. Log in to Venus Control Suite at https://venus.daktronics.com.
  2. Navigate to the Web Editor App.

  1. Click on Media Library in the left-hand menu.

Identify Media In Use
  1. Media items currently used in a Playlist or Web Presentation display an In Use label on the thumbnail.

  1. Select any media item with the In Use label.
  2. In the slide-in panel, review the In Use Details, which list where the media is referenced, such as:
    • Active or inactive Playlists
    • Web Presentations using the media as an asset

  1. Click any linked Playlist or Presentation to open it directly.

💡Note: A media item may appear In Use even if the Playlist is not actively displaying content. This helps ensure media is not removed while still attached to future schedules. 

    • Active – The playlist is enabled and scheduled.
    • Inactive – The playlist is inactive but still contains the media.
    • Expired – The playlist is expired but still references the file.
