How to test Standard Video installations

Testing of the pre-configured standard video display and control system.

Environment

  • Product:DVN, DVX, LVN, LVX
  • Component: DMP-8000, DI-6000, VIP-5060
  • Control System: Standard Rack Assemblies

Steps

🔽Use the arrows to open and collapse each section. 

For New Installations:
  1. Open Display Studio
  2. New installations have buttons created for the standard content that is loaded on the DMP-8000.
    • Indoor and Outdoor Workspaces will exist in the Display Studio software.
  3. The Essentials tab will have generic testing content buttons created.

  1. The buttons configured are set to play on the FullScreen zone.
    • The standard content can be used in any zone, you can create new buttons to play content in each zone of the display.
    1. Right click in the Scripting Container and select New Button.
    2. Select DMP-8000 Player Control.
    3. Select any unused zone (Audio Zone will be used for audio only).
    4. Select Play.
    5. Select Add and choose content from the Essentials content folder.
    6. Select the asterisk icon and click the Add Line + at the bottom of the window.
    7. Repeat from step 2 above to add content to remaining zones, suggest different content for each zone.
    8. Name button Test and save button.
  2. Click this Test button. Content should play on each zone as selected.

  1. Once confirmation is found click on the Blank Display button.
  2. To verify live video into the DMP-8000.
    1. verify video input is connected.
      1. For 1-input rack systems there will be a patch panel on the rear of the rack.
      2. Connect the laptop via HDMI into the HDMI IN port on the patch panel, make sure the W-3896406 jumper is connected between OUT 1 and SDI INPUT as indicated as well.

  1. For 4-input rack systems a Tricaster is provided.
  2. From the Tricaster control area play either saved content from the DDR or a camera input to the Program Out. See page 3 of the Standard Video Game Day Production Quick Guide 4 input.

  1. Click Video buttons in Display Studio.

  1. Select the Scripts tab in Display Studio.
  2. Verify Dimming scripts are working. Display Studio: How do I change brightness on a VIP-5x60, DI-6000, or VP-6000 with a button for a Daktronics Show Control System
    1. Visually confirm dimming is happening on display.
    2. If visual cannot be confirmed check the processor being used for confirmation.
      1. Connect to the processor webpage.
      2. Select the Brightness tile on the Dashboard.
      3. You will have to refresh this page after testing each Dimming button.

  1. Verify the Primary and Backup buttons for DI-6000s on indoor systems. Show Control System: How do I switch between active and inactive VP/DI-6000 via scripting?
    1. Connect to the DI-6000 webpages for both the primary and backup DIs.
    2. The activity of the output is reported in the ProLink Output State tile.
    3. Refresh these pages after testing each button.

    For Replacing Existing Equipment:
    1. On the new or existing Show Control computer, navigate to the mapped Content drive of the new or existing DMP-8000 (typically Z:), and then transfer the backed-up content files to it. You can also navigate to it by entering “\\DMP8VIDEO-1\Content” in File Explorer.
    2. If you need to create new Playback buttons in Show Control.
      1. Open Display Studio on the new Show Control computer. Clip playback buttons will already exist for the standard Daktronics content.
      2. Create the required clip playback buttons for the backed-up customer-created content. It may help to review the buttons that were created on the existing Show Control computer.
      3. Create the required playback buttons for the existing content to the Full Screen zone.

    3. Test the buttons that were created as well as the preexisting content buttons. 
    4. To verify live video into the DMP-8000.
