This article explains the different FrameWrx user roles and how Account Admins add, edit, and remove users through Daktronics Online. It also covers how to manage Student User passwords, preserve projects before deleting an account, configure student access, view student activity, and securely log in as a student for troubleshooting and support.

FrameWrx by Daktronics is a cloud-based content design platform that enables anyone, anywhere to access professionally designed templates to elevate their brand for event production and promotions. This timesaving platform simplifies content creation, maximizing the impact of digital video displays and social communication. Event producers of any ability can access top-level, intentionally designed templates, created by the professional digital artists who provide content for professional stadiums.

What are the FrameWrx user roles?
FrameWrx has two primary user types: Admins (including IT Admins) and Student Users (such as students or designers). Each role has different permissions and is managed through separate workflows depending on the role type.
Admin:
- Commonly used by instructors, content approvers, or program leaders.
- Has full access to:
- Managing users through Daktronics Online
- Template and branding creation
- Project reporting
- System configuration
- Can log in to FrameWrx through Single Sign-On (SSO) using their Daktronics Online Account credentials.
IT Admin:
- Typically a member of your IT department.
- Access is limited to managing Admin roles and viewing account-level settings.
- Cannot design content or access templates directly in FrameWrx.
- Can log in to FrameWrx through Single Sign-On (SSO) using their Daktronics Online Account credentials.
Student User:
- Typically a student or content creator for an account using the FrameWrx Classroom Plan.
- Has access to:
- Design tools
- Templates and projects
- Logs in using an assigned username and password.
- Student User accounts are created and managed by FrameWrx Account Admins through Daktronics Online.
Where do I manage FrameWrx users?
User account management takes place in Daktronics Online. Daktronics Online serves as your organization’s central hub for managing users, application access, and other account-related settings across Daktronics applications.
From Daktronics Online, Account Admins can:
- Add new Account Admins, IT Admins, or Student Users.
- Edit existing Account Admins, IT Admins, or Student Users.
- Remove Account Admins, IT Admins, or Student Users.
- Set a Student User’s password during account creation (FrameWrx Classroom Plan only).
- Reset a Student User’s password at any time (FrameWrx Classroom Plan only).
Any changes made in Daktronics Online automatically synchronize with your FrameWrx account.
Access User Management
- Log in to FrameWrx.
- Select Admin from the top navigation.
- Select Account Access from the left navigation.
- Select Manage Users in My Daktronics to open Daktronics Online.
- From the My Subscriptions tab, select your active FrameWrx subscription.
- Manage your Account Admins, IT Admins, and Student Users from Daktronics Online.
How do I add or remove an Account Admin or IT Admin?
After logging in to your organization’s Daktronics Online account, navigate to your FrameWrx Subscription Details page.
- Locate the My Subscription Admins table.
- To add an Admin:
- Select Add Admin.
- Select the contact and role from the list.
- Select Save.
- If the contact is not listed:
- Select Cancel.
- Navigate to My Account and add the new contact.
- Follow the instructions in the How do I add a contact to Daktronics Online? section of this article.
- Once the contact has been added, return to the My Subscription Admins table and complete the steps above.
- To remove an Admin from FrameWrx, locate the contact in the My Subscription Admins table and select Remove.
New Admins receive a welcome email containing an activation link.
- The activation link expires after a set amount of time.
- The new Admin should select the link, create a password, and confirm.
- Once the account is activated, the Admin can log in from the FrameWrx login page.
How do I add a Student User?
📢 FrameWrx Classroom Plan only
Only Account Admins can add Student Users to FrameWrx.
- In Daktronics Online, navigate to your FrameWrx Subscription Details page.
- Locate the My Student Users section.
- Select Add Student Access → Add New Student.
- Enter the student’s:
- First name
- Last name
- Email address
- Create a password for the student by either:
- Selecting Regenerate to generate a secure password, or
- Entering your own custom password.
⚠️ Important: Copy and save the password before creating the user’s account. For security reasons, the password cannot be viewed again after the Student User account has been created.
- Select Create Student + Grant Access.
- The student can sign in using the password you provided. A welcome email will also be sent, if your school’s email system allows external emails, giving the student the option to create a new password.
💡 Note: If your school blocks external emails, provide the password you created directly to the student.
How do I reset a Student User's password?
📢 FrameWrx Classroom Plan only
Account Admins can manage Student User passwords directly in Daktronics Online. A student’s password can be reset at any time.
- In Daktronics Online, navigate to your FrameWrx Subscription Details page.
- Locate the My Student Users section.
- Find the Student User you need to manage and select Reset Password from the available actions.
- Enter a new password for the user.
- Select Reset Password to complete the process.
⚠️ Important: Copy and save the new password before completing the password reset. For security reasons, the password cannot be viewed again after the Student User’s password has been reset.
- This allows teachers to assist students whose school email accounts may not receive external password reset emails.
How do I preserve projects and delete a Student User?
📢 FrameWrx Classroom Plan only
When a FrameWrx Student User is deleted, their FrameWrx data is also removed.
- Projects created by the Student User are not automatically transferred to another account.
- Student User projects remain available for 30 days after the user is deleted.
- After 30 days, the projects are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
- To preserve a student’s work, complete the following steps before deleting the Student User.
Preserve Student Projects
- Do not delete the Student User yet.
- Return to FrameWrx.
- Navigate to Admin → Student User Activity.
- Select the student.
- Select Log in as User.
- Submit the student’s projects to your Account Admin account for approval.
- Return to your own Account Admin account.
- Approve the submitted projects.
- Export the approved projects for long-term storage.
- Return to Daktronics Online to delete the Student User account.
⚠️ Important: Only projects that have been submitted, approved, and exported will be preserved.
Delete a Student User
- In Daktronics Online, navigate to your FrameWrx Subscription Details page.
- Locate the My Student Users section.
- Find the Student User you need to manage and select Remove from the available actions.
- Select the checkbox confirming that you understand the Student User’s projects will be deleted unless they were preserved first.
- Select Delete Student User.

How do I manage and support Student Users in FrameWrx?

Manage Student User Feature Access
While Student User accounts are managed in Daktronics Online, two FrameWrx-specific settings remain available inside FrameWrx.
- Navigate to Admin → Student User Activity.
- Select a student to configure:
- Disable Social Media Export
- Hide System Templates
These settings only affect the student’s FrameWrx experience and can be updated at any time.
View Student User Activity
The Student User Activity page allows teachers to monitor Student User accounts and provide classroom support.
From this page, you can:
- View student account information.
- View the Student User’s last activity date.
- View the Student User’s total number of created projects.
- Configure FrameWrx-specific settings.
- Securely log in as a Student User for troubleshooting and support.
💡 Note: Student account information displayed on this page is read-only and synchronized from Daktronics Online.
Log In as a Student User
Teachers can securely access a student’s FrameWrx account without knowing the student’s password.
- Navigate to Admin → Student User Activity.
- Hover over the Student User’s name in the table.
- Select the key icon to Log in as User.
This feature is helpful for:
- Troubleshooting student issues.
- Assisting students during class.
- Reviewing student work.
- Verifying permissions and access.
How do I add a contact to Daktronics Online?
⚠️ Required before you can invite an Admin to access your subscription account.
Stay logged in to your Daktronics Online Account.
- Select My Account from the left menu.
- In the Account Contacts section, select Add New Contact.
- Enter the contact’s:
- Name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Select the Enable Online Access checkbox.
- After successfully adding the contact to your account, return to the My Subscriptions tab.
- Follow the steps in How do I add or remove an Account Admin or IT Admin? to invite the contact to your FrameWrx subscription account.
