AF-3500m, VL-3500 Intermittent or no Ethernet communication; Loose ribbon cable from Quick Connect to Controller

Potential Symptoms

  • Intermittent or no communication to the display.
  • Directly connected to the Quick Connect (QC) still results in intermittent communication.
  • Directly connecting to display controller results in good communication.
  • If using Ethernet Bridge Radios (EBRs), the signal quality can be seen changing from a few LEDs lit to a single Red LED only.
  • 1 Red signal quality LED lit on client EBR even though radio has a good connection to the input QC, both Ethernet and auxiliary.
  • Client radio not getting sufficient voltage when auxiliary cable is connected to input QC.

Cause

  • Loose or bad connection on 10 pin ribbon cable connection Input QC to the controller.

Resolution

  1. Disconnect 10 pin ribbon cable from QC card and from controller and clean away any debris or corrosion.
  2. Verify no bent or damaged pins on ribbon cable, QC card, or controller.
  3. Reconnect cable to QC and to controller.
