The Daktronics aviation team spent an energizing week at the 98th Annual AAAE Conference & Exposition, proud to be both a long‑time AAAE partner and an exhibitor alongside airport leaders from around the world.

Hosted in Los Angeles, one of the world’s most influential aviation hubs, AAAE Annual once again served as a meeting place for airport executives, planners, and operators focused on elevating the passenger experience while balancing the realities of modern airport operations. For Daktronics, it was the ideal environment to demonstrate how thoughtfully designed digital signage can support both operational clarity and meaningful storytelling throughout the terminal.

Flexible LED Displays Designed for Real Airport Environments

Our booth at AAAE was built around one guiding principle: flexibility unlocks better airport experiences.

Attendees explored how Chip on Board (COB) LED display technology, including modular ¼ panel configurations, gives airports new creative and architectural freedom. These display solutions make it possible to design digital canvases that wrap around columns, follow curves, and integrate seamlessly into terminal architecture – without compromising image quality or reliability.

Whether viewed up close or across large spaces, COB LED displays deliver the clarity, contrast, and durability airports need for high traffic environments. More importantly, they allow digital signage to feel intentional and integrated, not added on after the fact, supporting calmer spaces and more intuitive passenger journeys.

Conversations That Matter in Today’s Terminals

Throughout the week, conversations at the Daktronics booth reflected a broader shift happening across the aviation industry: digital signage is no longer just about information. It’s about experience, responsiveness, and trust.

Airport leaders shared strong interest in how display technology can:

  • Create more immersive checkpoint and queuing environments using calming visuals paired with AI‑supported instructional messaging
  • Support dynamic wayfinding, enabling airports to respond instantly to operational changes, delays, or crowd flow challenges
  • Enhance the passenger journey through experience‑driven design that informs without overwhelming

These discussions reinforced what we continue to hear across the industry. When technology is designed around people, it becomes a powerful tool for reducing stress and improving efficiency.

Los Angeles Momentum: From AAAE to the Terminal

The energy in Los Angeles extended well beyond the exhibit hall. While in town for AAAE Annual, the Daktronics aviation team was proud to see continued momentum at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), a global leader in reimagining the passenger experience through technology and design.

Just weeks prior to the conference, Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) selected Daktronics to deliver a major video display system upgrade at Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT). The project includes more than 30 displays across seven integrated LED media wall environments, designed to align with the terminal’s architecture and create a cohesive digital experience throughout the passenger journey.

This project reflects a shared vision between LAWA and Daktronics: using digital signage not simply as screens, but as an integral part of how passengers experience the terminal from arrival to departure.

Looking Ahead: Human‑Centric Technology for the Future of Aviation

From meaningful booth conversations to landmark projects like TBIT, the AAAE Annual Conference reaffirmed what the Daktronics team hears around the world – the most effective airport technology is flexible, reliable and human‑centric.

We remain energized by the ideas, partnerships, and momentum coming out of Los Angeles, and we look forward to continuing the conversation with airport leaders who are ready to design terminals that inform, inspire, and welcome travelers at every step.
