My first experience as an intern at Daktronics was attending the ITS America Convention, which has proven to be a very beneficial experience. The event offered a rare chance to learn more about the intelligent transportation systems (ITS) sector and the role technology plays in enhancing mobility and safety by bringing together public agencies, industry leaders and transportation technology specialists from across the nation.

I spent time at the Daktronics booth at the convention, meeting with guests, discussing our solutions and observing how our staff works with clients and business allies. I've been fortunate to work with colleagues, like Tamara Hollins and Gabe Olson, who contribute to a positive workplace culture. Observing those discussions helped me better understand how connections are established and maintained in the transportation business, as well as enhance my networking and communication skills.

One of the most rewarding aspects of the conference was the opportunity to meet professionals from a variety of backgrounds, expand my network and gain exposure to different career paths within the industry. My professional development, confidence in a business environment and understanding of the markets Daktronics serves have all improved because of the experience.

Overall, attending ITS America was an impactful experience that strengthened my understanding of the industry and provided valuable hands-on learning opportunities. I'm appreciative of the chance to represent Daktronics and eager to put what I've learned to use for the rest of my internship.
