Scoreboard Digit or individual Segment appear dim, Segment in wrong position.

Potential Symptoms

  • Single or multiple scoreboard segments appear dimmer than the rest.

Cause

  • Horizontal segment was used in a Vertical position. 
  • Vertical segment  was used in a Horizontal position.
  • Though the segments fit in either position, the LEDs don't have the same viewing angle when rotated 90deg causing them to look dimmer when in the wrong orientation. 
  • Below is an example of a scoreboard with incorrect segments.

Resolution

  • Install correct segment.

For Temporary Operation

  • Horizontal and Vertical segments have the same shape and can be used in any position but will look dimmer when in incorrect position.
