VFC-3000 reports power supplies as unknown for a VF-1000 display

Potential Symptoms

  • Power supplies are reporting as unknown in controller peripherals.
  • Controller configuration is correct.
  • Factory resetting the controller makes no difference.
  • Power supplies will report as passed in Vanguard software.
  • Power supplies may fail in peripherals.

Environment

  • Control System: Vanguard Professional Software

Cause

  • DC I/O wasn't added into the peripherals first before the power supplies were added, so the power supplies didn't know where to report to.

Resolution

  • Follow steps below in order:
  1. Perform a Peripheral Auto Detect.
  2. Login to the controller by switching it to local mode.
  3. Select enter to login to the controller.
  4. Select (4) configuration.
  5. Select (3) peripheral configuration.
  6. Select (5) peripheral auto detect.
  7. Select (1) confirm.
  8. Next we need to manually add a DC I/O sensor.
  9. Select (1) add peripheral.
  10. Select (4) add DC I/O sensor .
  11. Select (1) DC I/O 1.
  12. Select (1) switch 5 on.
  13. Select (1) on distribution board.
  14. Next we need to manually add Power Supplies.
  15. Arrow down and select power supplies.
  16. Enter the quantity then select enter.
  • You may need to go into the sign to determine how many power supplies are there.
  • Refer to contract drawings to determine how many power supplies are in the sign.
