Scoreboard driver section randomly showing POST; Wiring short

Potential Symptoms

  • Section of scoreboard showing a Power On Self Test (POST) randomly; driver is rebooting.
  • Sometimes unable to get scoreboard to respond; remains blank.
  • A loose signal wire is floating in the scoreboard.

Cause

  • The loose signal wire is periodically making contact with the display back sheet causing a short and reboot of the driver.
    • Additionally, the signal intermittently lands on terminal it should be connected to allowing for signal to be complete and scoreboard operates as normal during this time.

Resolution

  • Reattach wire to proper terminal.
