Unable to connect to Daktronics equipment after replacing modem, router WAN IP incorrect

Potential Symptoms

  • Modem was replaced or factory reset.
  • Site equipment unable to report back to IDM.
  • Display offline in Venus Control Suite.
  • Unable to connect to equipment from Daktronics.
  • Unable to get out to the internet through Daktronics router.
  • Able to reach the internet when plugged into the modem directly.

Cause

  • Daktronics Router is set with Static IP address on its WAN port that is not compatible with the IP being used by the modem.

Resolution

  1. Log into the Daktronics router.
  2. Adjust WAN settings as needed for the modem.
    • Router can be set to obtain an IP address from the modem automatically or can be set with a static IP.  If you do not have the static IP information you can obtain it one of two ways.
      • Reach out to customer to obtain information from the internet provider.
      • Plug laptop directly into the modem and set your NIC to obtain an IP address automatically.  Run ipconfig from the command prompt and record your IP information for your LAN Ethernet settings.
