Light strips not lighting using light strip controller; incorrect console or code

Potential Symptoms

  • Light strips connected to light strip controller will not turn on.
  • Signal input is correct, confirmed with multi-meter.

Environment

  • Product: Indoor scoreboards
  • Component: Backboard light strips
  • Control System: All Sport 5000

Cause

Using an All sport 4000 or All Sport 2000 series which uses non-addressable MLP multi-line protocol signal or an All Sport 5000 series non-addressable code per All Sport : What All Sport code should I use when replacing my 1600, 2000, 5000 series consoles?

Resolution

All scoreboards running from the same console will need to be addressed which may require replacing drivers, installing address plugs or setting dials/switches on driver per How do I set the address on a LED scoreboard driver?

For Temporary Operation

  • Use the non-addressable setup on the scoreboards and run a secondary console All Sport 5000 series using addressable MDP multi-drop protocol signal for the light strip controllers and the light strips can be manually turned on.  This is not recommended operation as the light strips will not be accurately synced with the official game time.
