Blackmagic Video Assist Tool: How do I verify a signal from a DI-6000 or VP-6000?

Topic

  • How do I verify a signal from a DI-6000 or VP-6000 with the Blackmagic Video Assist Tool?

Environment

  • Product: 6000 Series Processors
  • Component: Imaging, Blackmagic Video Assist Tool
  • Control System:

Steps

For input monitoring

  1. Verify the signal within the 6000 device.
  2. Power on Blackmagic Video Assist using the power button on the side.
  3. Disconnect the connector at the input of the DI/VP-6000 and connect that cable to the input of the Blackmagic Video Assist Tool. Use adapters as the 6000 does not have a standard BNC connector.
  4. The Blackmagic Video Assist Tool will auto-detect the input connection and format of the video signal and display that signal on the screen.  If multiple connections are active and attached to the Video Assist, input/output selection can be made using the touch screen menus.

For output monitoring

  1. Power on Video Assist using the power button on the side.
  2. Locate the two small High Density BNC connectors on the DI/VP-6000 output card.
    1. There are cables included with installation of DI/VP-6000 that are designed for SDI video inputs.  If these are not included, they will need to be acquired.
    2. The DI/VP-6000 can be configured to output a composited (not "composite" video) signal sent to the display. Connecting the input of the Video Assist to these HD-BNC connectors would provide a kind of output monitor.
  3. Connect the appropriate cable and connectors.
  4. The Blackmagic Video Assist Tool will auto-detect the input connection and format of the video signal and display that signal on the screen.
