Blackmagic Video Assist Tool: How do I verify a signal from a DMP-8000?

Topic

  • How do I verify a signal from a Ross Xpression with the Blackmagic video assist tool?

Environment

  • Product: DMP-8000 Series
  • Components: Blackmagic Extreme or 4K Extreme output card, Blackmagic Video Assist
  • Control System:
Use this guide to verify a signal out of a Blackmagic Extreme or 4K Extreme output card via the Blackmagic Video Assist tool.

Steps

  1. Verify the PCI output card is configured.
    1. Configuration of these cards' I/O exists within the Blackmagic Desktop Video Utility in the Windows Control Panel. Under the Video Tab/video output, verify output format is set correctly.
    2. Under the Conversion tab/output conversion, verify that setting if you are using BNC output B.
  2. Power on Video Assist using the power button on the side.
  3. Connect the appropriate cable and connectors for use with the signal you are monitoring. Video connections can be made on the side opposite the power button. There are two (2) DIN 1.0/2.3 and two (2) HDMI connectors for input and output.
    1. The Video Assist will auto-detect the input connection and format of the video signal and display that signal on the screen.
    2. If multiple connections are active and attached to the Video Assist, input/output selection can be made using the touch screen menus.
  4. Confirm video signal is feeding out from the correct output (Out A or Out B).  See the image below for the arrangement of inputs and outputs on the card. If no video is seen from the desired output, consult the Service Knowledge Base for DMP-8000 troubleshooting.
