Ross Xpression: How can I verify that content is playing out from BlueBox?

Steps

  1. Identify what DMP is running on the section of the display showing the visual issue.  
  2. On the DMP in question, verify the desired content is playing out in the BlueBox program:
    1. In the Windows taskbar on the appropriate DMP, right click on the BlueBox icon, and choose [Start BlueBox Manager, or similar*get actual option*].

    2. Verify content is playing in the correct layer listed in the window as shown.

    3. If content is NOT listed in the Output Monitor pane:
      1. Confirm Dashboard or Tessera have properly commanded or scripted the content to play in the correct layer.
      2. Restart BlueBox service. This is Ross' first troubleshooting step if playback halts on an Xpression Player.
        1. On the desktop of each Ross Xpression, there is an icon resembling the one shown in Fig.13 BlueBox restart.

        2. Simply double-clicking this icon will restart the player, which could fix your content playback issue.

  3. If your desired content is listed in the correct Output Monitor pane for the Matrox card, continue on to test for the content/signal on the appropriate SDI BNC output of the Xpression.  Follow: Ross Xpression: How do I verify a signal with the Blackmagic video assist tool?​
