How to Setup and Operate a Track System

Steps

 

To make sure your system is ready for track season, first make sure you have each piece of equipment. This article will list some common components of a track system, along with their use case and signal flow.
 
A track system usually consists of three pieces: timing equipment, an optional meet manager, and a scoreboard or videoboard to display timing information.
 
Timing Equipment:

  • OmniSport 2000 Console
  • Hy-Tek Laptop (optional)
  • FinishLynx Full Automatic Timing System (optional)
  • FlashTiming System (optional)

Hy-Tek Meet Manager use case:

  • Automatic or manual timing
  • Event/heat information
  • Names

  • Running time
  • Lane results
  • Event/heat information as RTD (Real Time Data)

In a Daktronics system, timing equipment, such as FinishLynx Photo Finish software, sends timing information directly to a static scoreboard or videoboard or to Meet Manager software. Meet Manager combines timing information with data such as event and competitor names. The Meet Manager computer sends all of this combined data to a videoboard for display.
