LED failure on DF-2052 or DF-2053

Potential Symptoms

  •    Some LED's have burnt out on the display.

Cause

  • When installing the signal cable onto the board, the male side of the connector seats firmly into the female side. By pressing this onto the board, the board has the ability to flex slightly, if an excessive amount of pressure is applied, causing leads from each boards components to come in contact with each other causing the LED's to short out.

Resolution

  • First time installation:
    • We recommend no power to the panels before or during installation.
  • During maitenance:
    • We recommend removing power, then making the signal connection, then reapplying power to the board. By doing it in this order will, it eliminate any current through the components.
  • Below is a top view of the display. We've pointed out the green signal connector and circled the area that might come in contact with each other if improperly handled.
