Intermittent communication issue to price sign; incoming voltage incorrect

Potential Symptoms

  • Consistently have to power cycle the display in order to communicate with the sign.
  • Incoming voltage is incorrect.
    • Should have: 120 VAC hot to ground, 120 VAC hot to neutral, and 0 VAC neutral to ground.
  • First time fire up (FTFU), able to change first price but 2nd price is not showing any change.
    • When button is let go on remote, decimal on host stops blinking and 2nd price changes.
    • Can not see price increments as they are being made.

Cause

  •  The voltage coming into the power supply is incorrect
    • i.e. 55 VAC hot to ground, 110 VAC hot to neutral, 53 VAC neutral to ground.
    • Service ground may not be connected to the physical displays.

Resolution

  • Contact your local electrician to correct the incoming power into the power supply.
