Display Studio "Cannot Save to Database" Error When Using 'Save As' on Existing Workspace

Potential Symptoms

  • When you try to "save as" in a workspace, it does create a copy of the existing workspace,, but it is missing some or all of the scripts.

Environment

  • Display Studio

Cause

  • One or more Quick Display containers is no longer set to a display.

Resolution

  1. Find the Quick Display container that's causing the issue. It's likely on the last page that gets copied over before the error happens. Keep in mind these can 'hide' behind other pages.
    1. Right click on a Quick Display container and select Properties. If it's the one causing the issue it'll be blank for a sign.
    2. Go back to the original workspace and set that sign to anything or just delete the quick display container.
    3. Run the save as again and it should continue without error.

For Temporary Operation

Delete quick display containers as you delete signs they're tied to.
