Content Studio: How do I create score graphics for my display

1. To begin, open Content Studio.
2. Start a new template.
• Click the "New" button near the top left of the screen.
• Select the zone for which you want to create this Game In Progress (GIP) score graphic. Normally this is displayed along the bottom of a display.
  
3. Insert a graphic as your background.
• Once a new layout is opened, select the "Insert" tab along the tool bar, and select "Picture" to import a background for your graphic.
• Adding a background image to your GIP graphic is an easy way to make it stand out, and tie the graphic in to the rest of your production.
• Navigate to the file you would like to use. Once it is selected the Image Import window will appear. Click Import to import the background.
  
4. Add the necessary data fields to your graphic
• In the Dynamic Data Library on the left side of the screen make sure to pick the correct sport from the category drop down menu (In this example I am using Football: High School (DakStats)), and then drop down the Game In Progress section to find the data fields you need.
• To add data fields such as clock, home score, guest score, etc… to the graphic, simply click, and drag and drop the fields from the data library on to the graphic where you would like to place them.
• If you do not see the data field you need, you can use the search box at the top of the Dynamic Data Library to search for it.
  
5. Adjust the text to display as you would like.
• Edit the font of any data field by selecting it and choosing the "Home" tab on the toolbar. Here you will find options to change the font, font color, font size, bold, italicize, add drop shadow, etc…
• Adjust the font to your liking and position it on the graphic where needed.
6. Edit Sample Data to fit your needs.
• When you drop in home team score it automatically starts with 8888, but in football you will not see a score with more than two digits. To edit this, select the data field on the graphic.
• Click "Field Properties" from the tool bar, and in the sample box delete the number of characters needed to suit your sport.
  
• You can also use the align tools under the Format tab to help align the elements to one another on the graphic.
  
7. Continue adding any data fields you may need for your sport by repeating steps 4-6.
8. Use text boxes (under the insert tab) to label data fields if needed. In this example, I have labels for "Down", "To Go" and "Ball On."
   

Using Media RTD in your Score Graphic

1. One way to really make your GIP graphic pop is to use MediaRTD to display a graphic instead of a data field itself.  You set this up ahead of time and the graphics update automatically. You see this used a lot with team logos instead of just displaying the team name. Or having a graphic indicator for time outs left, instead of just seeing a number. This is very easy to accomplish.
• Place all images you want to use in this fashion into the MediaRTD folder inside your content folder.
• These files need to be named exactly as the data is sent from the All Sport console.
• For timeout indicators, have individual graphics named 1.png, 2.png, and 3.png. These numbers correspond with the number of time outs left, and the images themselves should show that.
  
• For team logos, name the logo by the team name, but you must be sure that the team names are entered in to the All Sport Console with the same spelling.
• See the example below of the graphics I am using.
• If you don't want to see a white background behind your images, make sure to save them as a .PNG to preserve the transparent background.
  
2. Once your images are placed in the MediaRTD folder for use, inside of Content Studio add the data field you would like to associate with these graphics.
•  In the example below I have added Home Time Outs Left - Total from the Game In Progress: Football folder in the Dynamic Data Library.
• With the data field selected go to the Field Properties tab and select the check box that says "Is MediaRTD."
  
3. Associate a sample graphic with your data field.
• Navigate to your MediaRTD folder within the content folder, and select one of the corresponding graphics you loaded so you can align the element properly within the image.
• In the example, the graphic named 3.png was used. 
• Continue steps 1-3 for any other desired fields.  The example below shows Home and Guest Timeouts, Home Team Name, and Guest Team Name.
  
4. At this point you can save your GIP graphic and create a normal play button within Display Studio to play it. The data fields will update automatically as the data from the All Sport console changes. You will see the MediaRTD fields update as well as timeouts are used, and team names are changed.
