Content Studio: How do I work with Sport Media RTD Items saved inside subfolders?

Topic

  • What are the steps to use Media RTD when using subfolders?
  • How can I add directories to Media RTD items inside subfolders?
  • How do I make a subfolder name be based off of a data field?

Environment

    • Product: Content Studio, DMP-8000 Players

    Steps

    Create a Media RTD element.

    1. Save content in appropriate subfolder within the MediaRTD folder on the DMP-8000.
    2. Add the RTD field to your content in content studio.
    3. Check Is Media RTD checkbox under the Field Properties tab.
    4. Select the image from the Media RTD subfolder you created in Step 1 on the DMP-8000. For more information follow: Content Studio: How do I create media RTD fields?

    3. Verify the source for your data in the source drop down.  (Every field added in this dialog needs to come from the same source.)
    4. Click Add Directory.  Type the name of the subfolder that your content is saved in inside the "Text" box.
      1. Keep the "/" at the end of your text.
      2. Make sure that the folder names have no spaces.
      3. Make sure to drag the directory Text box so it sits on top of the Field box like in the picture below.

Using a Data Field as a Subfolder Name

A great example for use of this feature is when creating headshot presentations. Being able to use a data field as a subfolder allows you to create separate folders for each guest team with their headshots, making game day operation simpler!

    1. Follow the same steps as above, using Add Directory to include any text based subfolders. For example, for sport and media type separation (i.e. Baseball/Headshots)
    2. Then, Add Field, to select the field that you will be basing your next subfolder off of. For headshots, the Guest Team Name is a good option.
      1. Note: for some data types, like JSON, you may not see the field you wish to use in the branch visible to you in the drop down menu. You can drag and drop the field from the Dynamic Data Library folder into the Multiple Fields dialog.
    3. Select Add Directory to add the slash following the field. This is what indicates that the data field is a subfolder.
    4. Finally, select the field that your mediaRTD is referencing.
      1. In the baseball example, consider using the Batter Bitmap Player field as it combines the player number and name as a single field, avoiding any conflicts with duplicate player numbers or last names.
      2. ##lastname.png or #lastname.png would be the file naming structure if using this field.

Note: Starting in version 2.25+, you are able to drag and drop a data field from the Dynamic Data Library into the Multiple Fields window. This is especially useful when working with JSON data.
