Driver Output Failed after Replacing Digit
Potential Symptoms
- One or more digits not displaying correctly. May have segments that do not come on, stay on, or are dim compared to others.
- Issue occurred after replacing a digit(s).
- Known good digits do not resolve the issue.
- Swapping parts reveals that the driver output is bad, and in some cases the replacement digit may appear bad as well.

Cause
- Rubber stand-off washers were not installed on the replacement digit causing it to short against the cabinet. SeeDigits on Scoreboard are not lighting correctly after replacing digits; Digits shorted to face plate . The resulting short circuit damaged the driver output and may have also damaged the replacement digit in the process.
Resolution
- Replace the driver.
- Make sure all digits have the proper insulating stand-offs installed.
- Run lamp test mode (All Sport 5000) or set the display to all 8's (RC-100).
- Replace any digits that are not lighting properly.
