Scoreboard will not power down when controlled with an RC-100 or RC-200 using code 06

Potential Symptoms

  • Scoreboard will not power down when controlled with an RC-100 or RC-200 using code 06.
  • Time clock digits remain lit with last numbers it displayed when RC-100 or RC-200 is powered off.

Environment

  • Product Family: Sports Products
  • Product: LED Scoreboards
  • Component: RC-100 Base Station w/ firmware version 3.7 or greater; RC-200 Base Station w/ launch firmware
  • Control System: RC-100 Handheld; RC-200 Handheld

Cause

  • This is expected operation in Segment Timer mode.

Resolution

  • In order to blank a display that is running the Segment Timer code, perform the following key sequence:
    1. Press [Alt] + [Start].
    2. Press [Clear/No] when prompted to "Press Ent to Start New Game".
    3. Press [Enter/Yes] when prompted to "Press Ent to Blank Display". 
    4. Press and hold [On/Off] until the handheld shuts off when prompted to "Turn Off RC-XXX to Remain Blank".
    5. Alternately, to resume operation press [Enter/Yes].
  • To restore the display to Segment Timer operation:
    1. Connect to the server with the handheld. LCD will show segment timer information. If the information does not automatically restore to the display, follow the steps below.
    2. Press [Alt] + [Start]. 
    3. Press [Clear/No] when prompted to "Press Ent to Start New Game".
    4. Press [Enter/Yes] when prompted to "Press Ent to Blank Display.
    5. Press [Enter/Yes] when prompted to "Turn Off RC-XXX to Remain Blank".

Workaround

  • Change to any code other than 06 before powering down the handheld.
