NovaStar: How do I configure translation table for custom size display sections with a Sender Box
Topic
- How to configure translation table for custom size display sections with NovaStar Sender Box?
Environment
- Product: Nova MCTRL 600, Nova MCTRL 660, NovaStar VX4S, NovaStar brand sender box and receiver cards
- Components: NovaLCT-Mars
- Control System: Gold family or NPP Control using transmit common/open protocol, includes but not limited to DVN-4003, J Series, U Series, Q Series
Steps
Refer to the project shop or riser drawing to determine which display panels are of custom sizes, and their resolutions. Usually there is one receiver card per panel. In some cases where there might be more than one receiver card per panel if a cabinet is very large. Note the pixel resolutions controlled by each receiving card.
1. Go to Screen Connection tab and draw a translation table as you would for standard size display sections.
2. On the table, click on the display section or receiver card that has a custom size.
1. On the left bottom corner under receiver card size, change the width or height to match pixel resolution of that receiver card.
2. Click on the table again and roll mouse over it confirm that the size has been changed.
3. Follow this for each custom size display section. Click "Send to Hardware" followed by "Save".
Note: Do not click "Apply to current" as it might change all panels resolutions to same size.
3. Back up the configuration files for the receiver cards. Typically, the receiver cards in the display have preloaded correct size configuration files in them.
1. To save copies of them, go to Receiving Card tab in configuration page and then click "Read from Receiver card".
2. Select the correct sender box, sender box output RJ45 port, receiving card sequence numbers.
3. Save a copy of receiver card file for that custom size by clicking "Save to File" tab.
4. Follow this step for different size of display sections and get a backup copy of each of them.
Alternate option
Create custom size receiver card config file by yourself by adjusting the width and height under Receiver Card Size. If the size is too large (alerted by red line around it), trade it off by increasing Shift Clock Frequency. Save a copy for each different size of display sections. To load the backup copy, click "Read from File" and then instead of clicking send to all, choose the target receiving card number as per screen connection table.
