Show Control System: How do I play an audio file out of a DMP-8000

Topic

  • Method to play an audio file (WAV or MP3's) out of a DMP-8000 using Show Control
  • Show Control's Display Studio script buttons
Daktronics recommends using scripting containers to play out audio files.  With this method you would create your audio buttons the same way you would create a button to play out graphics or animations.  You must script your audio file to a zone where no graphics are playing because the audio file will take over whatever is playing in the zone you chose.

Environment

  • Product: Show Control, DMP-8000
  • Components: Display Studio script buttons, interactive audio
  • Control System: Show Control, Live Clips, Studio One

Using an Audio Container

You may also use an Audio Container to play out audio files but this is not recommended unless you have a player dedicated to audio files because it can only play to the primary sign. Therefore it will replace your layout file and you will not be able to play other content until you re-initialize your layout file.  Audio Containers are created and treated just like quick display containers.

Create an Audio Library.
  • An audio library is a folder that contains all of your audio files (MP3 or WAV) and lives inside the content folder of your DMP-8000.  The library can be named whatever you chose as long as it only contains audio files.
Open your workspace and create a new audio container.
  • Right-click in the workspace page where you want to create the container and select New > Audio Container.

Create your audio buttons in the audio container.

  • In the Audio Container Properties screen, select your display from the Display Name dropdown menu and adjust the properties how you wish.
  • Click the Link to Library button at the bottom of the Audio Container Properties screen.

  • Navigate to the audio library you created in step 1 and click open.  This will link your audio library to your audio container.
  • Click save.  After the audio container properties screen closes, Display Studio will automatically create audio buttons for all the files in the audio library.
