FL-3000/4500: How do I measure output voltage on a power supply?
Topic
- How do I measure output voltage on a FL-3000/4500 power supply?
- How do I measure output voltage on a FL-3000/4500 with a dual power supply?
Environment
- Product: FL-3000, FLW-3000, FL-4500
- Component: Power Supply
- Control System:
Steps
- There are two types of power supplies for FL-3000/4500 series. Voltage measurements will be different depending on the style.
- Solid colored wires. (Left Picture)
- Black wires with colored stripes. (Right Picture)
- There may be one power supply or two.
- Follow these steps for a single power supply with solid colored wires:
- Unplug black power plug from J3 on the driver.
- Measure voltage between the red and black wire. You should get 24VDC.
- Measure voltage between the red and orange wire. You should get 24VDC.
- Follow these steps for a single power supply with black wires with colored stripes:
- Unplug black power plug from J3 on the driver.
- Measure voltage between the red striped wire and the solid black wire. You should get 24VDC.
- Measure voltage between the red striped wire and the orange striped wire. You should get 19VDC.
- Follow these steps if there are two power supplies:
- Note: If one power supply is faulty, both should be replaced as extra strain is put on the running power supply.
- Unplug one of the black power plugs from Y harness.
- Follow the steps listed above based off of the style of power supply.
- Unplug 2nd black power plug from Y harness and perform same measurements as before.
- Connect both power plugs back into Y harness.
- Disconnect Y harness from J3 on the driver.
- Measure voltage between red and black wires on pins 1 and 2. You should get 24VDC.
- Measure voltage between red and black wires on pins 3 and 4. You should get 24 VDC.
