SmartLink: How do I configure the Power Control and Network Monitors on a VIP with a SmartLink?

Steps

  • HTML VIP web interface
    1. Log into the VIP.
    2. Click the Peripherals tile from the dashboard.
    3. Configure the Relay names and actions as shown below.
      • If Power Control is missing from the peripherals, click the down arrow next to the "Add Peripheral" button at the top of the page and select Power Control.

    4. Click the Network Monitors link from the options on the left.
    5. Configure the Network Monitors as shown below while being aware of the following:
      • The "Host" boxes are blank in the examples shown.  When configuring the Network Monitors, the IP address used to fill in the "Host" box should match the IP in use on that actual piece of equipment.
        • For example, if the player computer onsite is set to 192.168.0.50; you would enter 192.168.0.50 in the Host box for the player monitor.
      • The IP address used for ISP Equipment should be an IP address that is external to the location and one that will not change.  Public DNS servers that respond to ping (ex. 4.2.2.1, 4.2.2.2, 8.8.4.4, 8.8.8.8) are common to use.
      • If no webcam is in use onsite it should be removed from the network monitors (by clicking the X in the corner) to prevent unnecessary power cycles.

    6. Click the blue Save button at the top of the page once all changes have been made.
    7. Confirm that the configured IPs respond to ping, reference How Do I ping an IP from the VIP-5060 web interface?, DD4672291 if needed.

 

 

Silverlight VIP web interface
  1. Log into the VIP
  2. Click the Configuration tab and then the Peripherals tab from the options on the left.
  3. Configure the Relay Names and Relay Control Options as shown below.
    • If Power Control is missing from the Peripherals, press the green plus and select Power Control from the drop down.

  4. Configure the Network Monitors with settings shown below while being aware of the following:
    • The "IP Address/ Domain Address" boxes are blank in the example shown.  When configuring the Network Monitors, the IP address used to fill in the blank should match the IP in use on that actual piece of equipment.
      • For example, if the player computer onsite is set to 192.168.0.50; you would enter 192.168.0.50 in the box next to Player.
    • The IP address used for ISP Equipment should be an IP address or website that is external to the location and one that will not change.  Public DNS servers that respond to ping (ex. 4.2.2.1, 4.2.2.2, 8.8.4.4, 8.8.8.8) are common to use.

  5. Click the Send Configuration button once all changes are made to save settings.
