Daktronics display, no communication after replacing controller, Port forwarding rules not set

Potential Symptoms

  • Able to ping the Public IP of modem but can't connect to display externally.
  • Can connect to the controller internally from modem/router.
  • Can access internet from modem/router.

Cause

  • Port forwarding rules on modem/router are not configured to work with new controller.

Resolution

A. Set the controller IP to match the old controller's IP or DHCP name.

OR

B. Configure Port Forwarding rule on modem/router for new controller's IP or DHCP name.

NOTE:

For M2 and M3 based controllers, use Port 3001

For M4 based or higher controller, use Ports 4500 through 4525
