What is the Recommended Shutter Speed for taking Photos of Full Color Billboard Displays?

Topic

  • What is the Recommended Shutter Speed for taking Photos of Displays?
  • How to minimize the "refresh" lines through the face in the picture.

Environment

  • Vanguard Full Color (or Monochrome) Displays
  • Billboard
  • Galaxy

Steps

  • Marketing Group suggests using 1/60 shutter speed. (this may need to be adjusted in either direction.)
    • Minimize the MoirĂ© - The curse of the curvy lines through the display can ruin a great picture. The MoirĂ© effect is the result of the camera capturing scan lines that aren't visible to the human eye. This is caused by the refresh rate of the display and can often be eliminated by slowing (lowering) the shutter speed on your camera.
  • ISO - from 80-400.
