Steps

Hardware Setup

1.  Hook up the V-Play to the network (or network hub) with a network cable.

2.  Hook up the V7000 to the network (or network hub) with a network cable.

3.  Verify that the V-Play and the V7000 computers are able to see each other on the network.

DCS Setup

1.  Start up the Daktronics Communication Server (DCS) program on the V-Play Computer

a.  Click the "Start" button/"Settings"/"Control Panel"

b.  Double click the "Daktronics Comm. Server" icon

2.  Click on the icon labeled "Ports"

3.  Select a empty port and right click and select "Edit Port"

a.  Type in a name for the port found under "Name" on the "Port" Configuration" dialog

b.  Under the "Type" select "UDP/IP"

c.  Select the "Port" number that you want to use(Any Port # not being used will work)

d.  Set "Output" to "Broadcast"

e.  Verify that the "Mode" is set to "Bidirectional"

f.  "Enable RTD Protocols" and "Verify Checksum" are checked

V-Play Setup

1.  Start the V-Play application

2.  Click on the menu "Tools", and select the menu "Options"

3.  Click the tab "Port Configuration"

a.  The port that was set up in the DCS application should show up on this tab.  In the "Name" section appears the name of the port that was set up in the DCS.

b.  Click on the "Function" space next to the port name and select the item "Simple Protocol" so that it has a check mark next to it.

c.  Click the "Apply" button

d.  Click the "OK" button

4.  The V-Play is now set up to receive commands from the V7000

5.  Before you leave the V-Play you will want to collect a few pieces of information

a.  You will want to get the "Page Name" , "Button ID Number" and "Clip length"

b.  To get this information go to the button that you want to trigger from the V7000 and right click on the button and go to properties

V7000 Setup

1.  Click the "Configure" button found on the V7000 Shell

2.  Click the "TXD Outputs" tab

3.  Click on an open output and click "Edit Output"

a.  Enter a description in the name field

b.  Select "UDP/IP Socket" for the "Output Type"

c.  Select the "Output"

This is the port # you inputted in the DCS (step 3c of the DCS Setup)

d.  Make sure "Broadcast" is selected

e.  Click "OK"

f.  Click "OK"

g.  Click "Yes" to all questions retaining to restarting the sign service.

4.  Start the V7Edit application (V7000 Editor)

5.  Create a new sequence

6.  Click on the "Frame" Menu

7.  Insert new frame

8.  Click "Transmit Data"

a.  Enter a description in the "Description" field

b.  Select "Output 1" from the drop down list in the "Output" Section

c.  In the "Hold Time" section, fill in a time which is at least the length of the clip to play in V-Play (Note:  otherwise the clip won't play entirely).

d.  Select "None" for the "Protocol" section

e.  In the "Transmit Data" section type in the "Button ID" and the "Page Name" between the symbols "<….>" separated by "?"

Format:  <?VPlayName?ButtonID>

Example:  <?Welcome?14>

9.  Delete the first frame

10.  Save the sequence

11.  Open the V7Display application from the Shell program

a.  Make sure that "One Time" is selected as the "Play Type"

b.  Select the sequence that was just made and click "Play Sequence"

If the "Play Mode" is set to "Continuous"  the V7000 will constantly send the command sequence out and the V-Play will attempt to play the clip over and over again

If this happens you will have to stop the sequence from the V7000 shut the V-Play application down through the task manager

c.  The same holds true when you are using Scripting Commands and Quick Display buttons; the "Play Type" needs to be "One Time"

VPlay Trigger Scripting Shortcut

DCS Setup

1.  Follow DCS Setup and V-Play Setup

On  "DCS Step 3c" set "Port" to "2700"

This is the ERTD port number that is set up for ERTD commands

V7000 Setup

1.  Click on the "Configure" button on the V7000 Shell

2.  Click on the "RTD Inputs" tab and select "Port 16"

a.  Enter Port Description in the "Name" field

b.  The "Source Type" is "UDP/IP Socket"

c.  The "Source" is "27000"

d.  The "Protocol" is "Enhanced"

3.  Click "Yes" to all questions retaining to restarting the sign service

4.  Go to a "Scripting Page" on the "Display Tab"

a.  Select an empty cell

b.  Right click and "Edit Cell"

Name the Cell

c.  Right click on cell and "Edit Script Cell"

i.  Add Line

ii.  Select "SendRTDPortData"

iii.  Set service to "Local"

iv.  Set RTD Input to "Input 16"

v.  Set Data to:  "<?VPlayPageName?ButtonID>"
