No communication using serial radios in a FL-3000

Potential Symptoms

  • Unable to communicate to display.
  • Loopback test passes through J-Box.
  • Broken, frayed, or not well terminated wires at the terminal block of the J-Box.
  • DM-100 may read "No bidirectional link detected",

Cause

  • wires not terminated properly at J-Box

Resolution

  • Re-terminate the signal wires into terminal block.
    1. Unplug power to the J-Box.
    2. Using a small precision straight edged screwdriver, loosen the wires and remove them from the plug.
    3. Re-strip all 6 wires for the signal.
    4. Place freshly stripped wires back into phoenix plug in the order they were to begin with and tighten them down.
