The request channel timed out...; USB-serial adapter locked up

Potential Symptoms

  • When publishing schedule to display in Venus 1500 V4, getting error: "The request channel timed out while waiting for a reply after 00:30:00. Increase the time out."
  • Venus 1500 V4 staying on Retrieving Status for a extended period of time.

  • Control System: Venus 1500 v4

Cause

  • USB to serial adapter locked up.

Resolution

  • Replace adapter if issue is recurrent.
    • Daktronics recommends a MOXA NPORT U1110 USB to serial adapter.

Work Around

  • Unplug the USB cable and plug back into the USB port, this will enable it again.
    • This may only be a temporary fix.
