Display: Blank, DMP player RUN LED not lit. Failed Player Power Supply

Potential Symptoms

  • Message display is blank, has no boot up or heartbeat, and unable to communicate.
  • PLR is showing Err PL6 on LCD readout, but PLR Self Test passes.
  • DMP RUN LED is not lit.

EBR Specific Symptom

  • Venus 1500 Network Troubleshooter and EBR Diagnostics shows Server radio but does not find Client radio.
  • Client radio not receiving power. 

Environment

  • Product: GP3, GP4
  • Component: DMP-4060, DMP-8000
  • Control System: Venus 1500 v3 or v4, Venus Control Suite

Cause

  • Player power supply outputting too low of voltage to the player (5VDC in this case; should be 12VDC).
    • Communication equipment gets power through DMP connection.
    • PL6 (fiber link) to PLR also comes from the DMP.

Resolution

  • Replace player power supply.

For Temporary Operation

  • May use one of the module power supplies to get display operational.
    • Module will then be blank until power supply is replaced.
