DMP-8000 is booting up with a blank screen, but can see mouse, Secondary monitor set as primary

Potential Symptoms

  • Monitor that is connected VNet / DMP-8000 shows blank or all black, but one can see the cursor from the mouse on the screen when moving it.
  • May have recently disconnected or replaced the VGA / video cable that goes from the DMP-8000 to the monitor.

Environment

  • DMP-8000
  • Video: DVN, DVX
  • Message Center: DVNMC

Cause

  • The secondary monitor is set as the primary screen (can occur when video cables are unplugged from the back of the DMP).

Resolution

  1. Right-click on the desktop/blank screen.
  2. From the pop-up menu, select Screen Resolution.
    1. If the Screen Resolution window does not appear, the VNet player window may be maximized.
    2. Hit the escape (Esc) key to change VNet Player window from playing to full screen. Or Alternatively press the ALT + F4 and select cancel on Windows Shutdown/restart pop-up. The VNet player window should now appear and can be minimized allowing access to the Screen Resolution window.
  3. Click on the screen that should be primary (usually #1).
  4. Check mark the box that says "Make this my main display". and click Apply and then OK.
  5. Verify the desktop now shows with the Windows taskbar down at the bottom.
  6. Restart the DMP-8000 and verify settings remain correct.
