Unable to communicate with 1 or more displays, Signal cables installed incorrectly

Potential Symptoms

  • Cannot change price on one or more gas price display.

Environment

  • Product Family: Digit and Price Displays Fuelight

Cause

  • Signal cables (line to line) are not installed correctly.
    • Line to line cable plug into J16 communication port.
    • Line to line cable plug into J18 Cash/Credit Port.
    • Line to line cable ran from J10 to J9 instead of J9 to J10.
    • Drain Wire is attach on J10 side of line to line cables.
    • Drain wires of cables not attached.

Resolution

    1. Route signal cables correctly.  See: How to install signal cable between FL-3000 displays, DD2852404.
      • See Figure A
    2. Shut off power to the display structure for a minute.
    3. If that doesn't solve the issue immediately, and you use a DM-100, follow these steps:
      1. Power down the display structure(s), the DM-100 and disconnect the DM-100 from the sign.
      2. Power up the display structure(s). Wait until they show prices again.
      3. Reconnect the DM-100 to the display and power it back up.
      4. At the DM-100, click the Menu button.
      5. Click the arrow buttons until to you see "Diagnostics Menu" and click Enter.
      6. Click the arrow button until you see "Detect Displays" and click Enter.
      7. It will give you a prompt before running through the process. Press Enter to get it started.
      8. Once it is done, press Clear until you are back to where you can change prices.
