DMP-8000: How do I copy zones from the player?

Potential Symptoms

  • The DMP-8000 allows the user to create copies of zones that can be displayed in other areas of the output.
  • Systems displaying multiple zones
  • All copies of a zone will be synchronize
  • Show Control buttons can specify only the parent zone but will also control any copies of that zone
  • The copies will render much more efficiently and with less impact on the playback than playing the same content multiple times
  • Example:
  • copyzone.png

Environment

  • Product Family: Video
  • Product: Systems displaying multiple zones
  • Component: DMP-8000 v6.1 or higher
  • Control System: Show Control

Resolution

Browse the DMP-8000 computer and then navigate to the content folder

Windows XP  (C:\Program Files\All Users\Application Data\Daktronics\VNET4\Content

1.  Open the Layout file

NOTE: .layout file may be edited with any word processing software, most use notepad or notepad ++ as an editor.

In the case of duplicate zones, a feature called zone copy can be used. This is commonly seen with fascia displays as seen here.fascia layout example.png

2.  The first zone will be your zone id and the zone being duplicated. The zones following will be the copy. This will tell the original zone where to be duplicated.

3.  Identify the size and placement of the copy zones.

a.  Identify the size of each zone.  The example uses relative sizes vs percentage sizes to configure the zone sizes.

b.  Enter the x and y values to determine the placement of the zones on the display.
