Display Studio: When making a new button, only the "primary" VNet window is showing

Potential Symptoms

  • When trying to create or edit a button in Display Studio, the only zone that is showing up is the "primary" zone.
  • L bar, Bottom bar, full screen, etc. zones are not showing when creating a new button.

Environment

  • Display Studio
  • VNet (DMP-8000) controlled display

Cause

  • A button is blanking or playing content to the "primary" window (or zone), stopping the layout file from playing.

Resolution

  1. Restart the DMP-8000 player.
  2. Exit and restart Display Studio.
  3. Check to make sure all your windows are present when trying to edit or create a button.
  4. Now, find the button that is playing content to the "primary" zone. Uncheck the "primary" zone in the button.
    Note: the button that is often causing the issue is a "Blank All" button.
  5. If unable to find the button blanking the primary zone, create a button to play the layout file to the primary zone manually.
