Receiving error "Nucleus Service not running. Nucleus Service Failed to Load", Services may not be set correctly

Potential Symptoms

  • Receiving error "Nucleus Service not running. Nucleus Service Failed to load."
  • Getting error "Fusion Service could not be started."
  • One or more services used by the Venus software failed to automatically start.
  • May get "Nucleus Service Not Started" error when launching, even though both Daktronics Nucleus and Fusion services are started.
  • Nucleus Error:  Error logging in. The service is still loading or not running.
    • In this case Daktronics Fusion is running, but Daktronics Nucleus Server may or may not be listed as started.
  • Getting "no endpoint listening at net.pipe:" soap action error when trying to open Venus 1500.
  • Attempted to run program as administrator but still not launching (seen in versions v4.20 and below).

Environment

  • Product:
  • Component: Windows Vista, 7, 8, or 10
  • Control System: Venus V4

Cause

  • One or more of the services needed to launch the Venus 1500 V4 application are not currently started.  Services may show running.
    • The services may appear to be set as "manual," "disabled," or "Automatic (Delayed Start)" startup types
    • Services are not running or did not start properly.

Resolution

Windows Vista,7,10

  1. Go to Windows Start Menu.
  2. In the bottom search bar type: Services.
    • Services will filter into the Windows Start Menu.
  3. Click on Services with the gears in front.
  4. Locate the following services:
    1. SQL Server (Nucleus)
    2. Daktronics Fusion (Venus 1500 v4.18 and greater only).
    3. Daktronics Nucleus Server
  5. Right-click and choose Properties on each of the services in the order listed.
  6. Under Startup Type:, choose Automatic.
  7. Start/Restart Services as needed.
  8. Launch Venus 1500 v4.

Windows 8 (No classic start menu)
  1. Hover mouse on the right side of the desktop, click on the Magnifying Glass icon.
  2. Type services.msc in the search box and hit [enter].
  3. Locate the following services:
    • SQL Server (Nucleus)
    • Daktronics Fusion (Venus 1500 v4.18 and greater only).
    • Daktronics Nucleus Server.
  4. Right-click and choose Properties on each of the services in the order listed.
  5. Under Startup Type:, choose Automatic.
  6. Start/Restart Services as needed.
  7. Launch Venus 1500 v4.
