Serial radios, No communication through client radio; Improper wiring

Potential Symptoms

  • Unable to communicate with the display.
  • Loopback passes through server radio, but fails at client radio.
  • LED indicators on radio card may be entirely blank or the "In Range" and signal LED indicators will be blank with the run and power LED indicators still lit.

Environment

  • Product: Galaxy, DF or FL Price displays
  • Component: Serial Radios (Gen 2 & 3)
  • Control System: Venus 1500, DM-100

Cause

  • Improper wiring going into client radio's input terminal block (TB1).

Resolution

  • Properly wire cables going into client radio's TB1.
    1. Connect blue wire to TB1 input 8 (AC).
    2. Connect red wire to TB1 input 7 (AC).
    3. Connect green wire to TB1 input 6 (TX).
    4. Connect white wire to TB1 input 5 (RX).
    5. Connect black wire and shield (bare) wire to TB1 input 4 (GND).
