Launching OmniSport Pro Swimming get error, Folder permissions.

Potential Symptoms

  • When launching OmniSport Pro Swimming, the error "The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file 'C:\documents and settings\all users\application data\daktronics\OmniSport Pro Swimming\<>.mdb'. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data.

Environment

  • OmniSport Pro Swimming
  • Windows 7

Cause

  • Permissions to the folder are not set for the user profile to access.
  • Application is not running in administrator.

Resolution

  • Right click on the ProSwim icon, select "Run as Administrator". If this does not resolve the issue, follow the below steps.
  • Open Windows Explorer, click on Tools, click on Folder Options. Select View tab, select "Show hidden files, folders and drives" if not chosen already.
  • Go to the path C:\ProgramData and right click on Daktronics folder, click on Properties, uncheck Read-only, click on Apply and then on OK. Select Security tab, click on Edit. Click Add button and type in Everyone in the "Enter the object names to select" field. Click on Check names. Click on OK.
  • Select Everyone on the Security window and be sure to give "Full Control". Click on Apply and OK.
  • Right click on the ProSwim icon, select "Run as Admin"

  1. Run a repair to the ProSwim Software.
