How to setup SI-32 so that a default message plays

  • How do I set up SI32 so that a default message plays when the switch-activated messages aren't playing?

Steps

  1. Refer to SI-32 Interface Display Manual (ED-10606).
  2. Software setup.
    1. In Venus 1500 V4 software, create MSG001, MSG002, and MSG003, and save them in SWITCH folder.
    2. MSG003 will be the default message that plays when MSG001 or MSG002 are not playing.
    3. Publish each message, then blank the sign so that the messages will be saved in the Stored section of the controller.
  3. SI-32 Setup.
    1. Remove the cover from the SI-32 and set the dipswitch to 2 (rocker switch 2 in ON position, all others in OFF).  Cycle power to the SI-32.  This will put the SI-32 in BCD Normal mode.
    2. Refer to 2-6 in the SI-32 Interface Display Manual (ED-10606). 
      1. Terminate wires from relay 1 (used to activate MSG001) on TB2 SW8-P and SW8-N.
      2. Terminate wires from relay 2 (used to activate MSG002) on TB2 SW7-P and SW7-N.
    3. Test: 
      1. When SW8-P and SW8-N are shorted, MSG001 should play on the display.
      2. When SW7-P and SW7-N are shorted, MSG002 should play on the display.
      3. When SW8-P and SW8-N are shorted, AND SW7-P and SW7-N are shorted, then MSG003 should play on the display.
