"Connect Failed" alert in Venus 1500, Driver installation "Error 1"

Potential Symptoms

  • Getting a connect failed error in Venus 1500 V4 after configuring the display.
  • Unable to connect in Venus 1500 or M2config but display is configured on correct Com port.
  • Loopback test on USB to serial adapter fails even though driver is installed and Windows has assigned it a Com port.
  • In Device Manager, device has exclamation point marking it. Driver did not install properly (error 1).

  • Component: Third party USB to Serial adapter
  • Control System: Venus 1500 v3, Venus 1500 v4

Cause

  • Corruption in the adapter driver installation.

Resolution

  1. Uninstall then re-install the USB to serial adapter.
  2. Make changes to Venus 1500 display configuration if the Com port changed after re-installing (Com port listed in Venus needs to match the Com port Windows assigned to USB to serial adapter in Device Manager).
